Reminds me of the story of the student pilot getting checked out in his
first airplane with retractable landing gear.
Student: What happens if I accidentally try to raise the landing gear while
we're sitting here on the ground?
Instructor: You can't. There's a squat switch that senses you're on the
ground and prevents the gear from being raised.
Student: How can I be sure the switch is working right?
Instructor: Try raising the gear right now and you'll see.
Student: OK.
Everybody knows the rest of the story.
Walter
