HELP....Network printing slow

It now takes up to 1 minute to print a small spoolfile (space=16) !!
Spooler shows state ACTIVE on spoolfile.
Tried stop/startspool.

Pinging the printer works fine from 3000, responds avg 5 ms.

Printing to a DTC-connected printer works ok, no heavy jobs running on
HP3000, 10.000.000 sectors free space, normal responsetime.

Printing from Word,Notepad etc to the network printer works ok.

(just waiting to start my annual licence fee job that generates  8.000
spoolfiles ......  multiplied 1 min each is  ??)

Any suggestions ??
