With the statements made in Chicago and HP's introduction of an all
encompassing 918lx with all software, I cannot see any movement away
from IMAGE.

Couple this with the 64 bit MPE announcement, the 989 and others and
again IMAGE must survive. There is no point in producing more powerful
machines without IMAGE.

Third, HP will be offering a new rewrite of QUERY sometime soon. They
have or will be adding the B-tree option and other enhancements.

So no, from my information as a DBA and from discussions with my
colleagues IMAGE will be around for the near future.

What is happenings is that there is a movement to consolidate IMAGE and
ALLBASE into the same package so to speak as IMAGE/SQL.

It is like in the past when HP announced no more upgrades to MPE 5.00,
they meant the classic version. Not MPEiX 5.00, as 5.5 is available and
6.0 will be available early next year.

I hope this answered your question.

Thank you.
