Art,

Also working off memory...

Minimum: pins 2-3-7 (send, receive, ground)

Some equipment required that pins 2-3 be crossed-over (2<->3, 3<->2)

Some equipment required pin 20 (Data Terminal Ready/DTR).
Some equipment required pins 5-20 crossed-over.

I'm not responsible for any damage or injury the above may cause... ;-)

Good luck.

François

Hello All :)
I remember that the cabling for the printers off of a 3k can use 3 or 4
conductors? IIRC, Pins 2, 3, 7, 20 or 22?? Also, matters what type of
printer is at the end...

Remember it has been at least 10 years since I cabled a 3k and a
printer to talk to each other :) and we all know about my memory! hehehe

David:

I have seen in the past, where a client lowers the priority and then
turns off the printer for the night. In the morning, raises the
priority and then turns on the printer. Now if you use the proper
cabling, the system will know if the printer is ready and there will be
no loss of output. If the cabling is homemade, then there is the chance
that not all the signals are are being sent or received from both the
printer and the computer and you may lose any and/or all output until
the printer is up to full speed.

In the meantime, make sure the printer is fully warmed-up and
operational before raising the priority.

Hope this helps.

spoolfile to print, it would disappear. when we alter the second one, it
would print and would continue to work fine till the next day ... has
anyone seen this phenomena?
