I am not so sure that is a valid statement anymore.  In the past month I have had several issues with new dell equipment.  
   
  1) Vostro 200 that would get a blue screen after applying Microsoft XP patches.
  2) Laptop that had to be replaced
  3) Paying for next day on site business support and having to wait 3 days.
   
  I am not saying don't buy Dell, but that the Dell standard appears to have been lowered considerably recently.
   
  I would not buy a Dell laptop without the extended 3 year on-site business support. Period.
