ftp connection with NT explorer

i just connected to the ftp service of my hp e3000 via NT explorer.  the
connection was fine.  prompted for password and gave me a list of files.
it seems that the list that the windows client is expecting is in a
different  format than the list that the ftp is giving.  is there some
setting on either side of the connection which will make this function?
