Tracy,

If your Chinese users have their PC's pointed to a WINS server
different than that of your local users, then add the
'remote announce = xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx' parameter to the smb.conf
file where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of their WINS
server. If they are not using a WINS server, the IP address
should be whatever box they are using as their 'master browser'
(or the broadcast address of their subnet).
If you want Samba to show up within a workgroup other than what
is configured in smb.conf, you can change this slightly to specify
the desired workgroup under which it will appear:
remote announce = xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/WORKGROUP

Hope that helps,
Michael

Subject: [HP3000-L] Remote Site Not Seeing Sambaix Domain

I have a Sambaix domain on my network, users locally can
see the Sambaix workgroup and the HP3000 underneath it
in their Windows Explorer display (on whatever version
of Windows they happen to be using, NT, 98, 2K, whatever.)

The circuit also goes over a frame relay, users at a
remote site in another part of the U.S. can also see
our Sambaix Domain.

However, on our long distance portion of the frame relay
in China, the users cannot see our Sambaix domain. Any
hints as to what they maybe missing? (The Chinese users
can log in with VT or Telnet, so connectivity is not
the issue.)

Methinks there is something on their NT server they need to
do, or is there something in my smb.conf I need to do?
