So what was the purpose of the survey? It sounds to me like they are not
even planning on looking at any of the 'top 3' requests!

Subject: [HP3000-L] sib results
hi all!
for those that haven't heard...the sib results are up! the
url is: http://www.interex.org/advocacy/survey/index.html
hp's mpe response hasn't been published yet...but being a
person with connections (:-), i give you the top three (just
to keep things short).... - d
1. Don't go through entire hello and the password routines
only to receive "can't initiate new sessions now". (Change
the logon process to be more logical) (Sys Man)
Response: It is easy to understand how users are frustrated
after entering up to three passwords to find out that the
session limit is full and they cannot logon. Unfortunately,
we have no one looking into this enhancement at this time.
2. Provide shutdown mechanism with a reboot option similar
to HP-UX. This “mechanism” would probably be in the form of
a command or a script and is envisioned to be similar to the
“SysStart” command file. (Sys Man)
Response: We currently have no one working on this
enhancement suggestion. We believe we have a reasonable
understanding on the benefit of these enhancements and we
have a rough, high level understanding of how to implement
them. However, we have no extra engineers to start the
work, and we believe that our currently staffed projects are
still at a higher priority.
3. Integrate MPE with UPS units to allow UPS units to signal
need for shutdown. (Note: dependency on shutdown command.)
This request is tightly coupled with the (above) shutdown
mechanism. Again, the shutdown mechanism and UPS
integration are being split to give HP a better idea of the
user community’s true needs. (Sys Man)
Response: We currently have no one working on this
enhancement suggestion. We believe we have a reasonable
understanding on the benefit of these enhancements and we
have a rough, high level understanding of how to implement
them. However, we have no extra engineers to start the
work, and we believe that our currently staffed projects are
still at a higher priority.
