Hello,

I am using the shell/ix and have this tar file backup.tar
which was created from the root up, like this :

/home/john/file1
/home/john/file2
/home/john/file3

I want to restore only 1 file, file2 to another directory
/home/john/restore/file2. But I am unable to do this because
the tar was not created with a ./ in front.

Is there a way I can extract the file2 to another location
without overwriting the existing file?

Thanks a lot in advance for all your help.

Cheers!
John
