Again your missed the points I was making. These detainees have not (based
unpon the media reports) being mistreated. Other than being help captive,
they are being treated in a very fair manner. As detainees they are not
subjective to the judicial systems any more that the captives were duing
the Gulf Conflict. Only, i not so sure that those captives were afforded the
same standards the captives are in Guantanamo Bay. The current captive have
assess to full medical facilities that exceed most people in the USA, they
access to their religious practices (except for killing people and flying
planes into building) and they have access to food items that met their
needs (including religious).

During the Gulf conflict, no demands were made during the conflict of Iraq
other than reasonable fair treatment of the captives something that was
given unless you count the beating.

With regards to the other point, you made the statement that they were
murdered, A statement that the article did not state thus giving a false
impression.

Joe Andress responds:
>As I understand it, the people at Guantanamo are being detained not as
criminal but as prisoners of a military action. Totally different standards.

Indeed they are totally different standards. That's precisely the point.
If you reverse the protagonists you will very easily see a situation that we
would find completely unacceptable: If our soldiers/citizens were detained
in this manner, removed from the country they were captured, taken to a far
off land and treated in the fashion described, we would quite correctly be
appalled and would demand that they be charged or released immediately. We
may even consider such behaviour a war crime and seek the appropriate
justice. Just imagine for a moment that the detainees were US Marines or
British troops.

>...(and indicates comments/points I "failed to note".)

You're right, of course, I didn't explicitly highlight those points as they
were covered in the links I gave. Thank you for taking the time to have a
look at them. However, one con imagine how convoluted this thread would
become if not only do we debate with each other but we also critique our
sources in detail.

>Finally, nothing in life is free. Countries which hold out their hand for
aid
have to expect to give something in return.

You just know I disagree with you on this.
