Wirt made some great comments about the finances of Interex, and as a
frequent contributor to the magazine I have noticed a few things over
the years. When I first started Interact was about 120 pages a month,
now it's down to 64 this month from cover to cover. I am constantly
asked to trim down my columns and reviews and get rid of examples to
keep it small. I had my column pulled from InterexPress from an annoyed
advertiser, and have other "edits" made to my text to appease other
advertisers. I read about a dozen different trade rags a month, and I
don't see other columnists have this problem, and given what Wirt has
said about what Interex is probably making, I can't believe one annoyed
vendor can make such a difference to what Interex is willing to publish
to be taken seriously.
I mean really, where else are you going to advertise? The Chronicle is
a waste now, HP Pro was never very good, what ever happened to Super
Group magazine? but there is now the NewsWire as well, so there is one
alternative.
I do know that Interex has to be pretty honost on their books because I
got called by the IRS a few years ago when they were investigating them.
Now I am not trying to bite the hand that feeds me, because I have in
general had a very good rapport with Interex over the years I have been
writing, and I enjoy it. I guess I miss the old days.
