Fellow Listers - as some of you know I am the chairman of Interex's Printer Special Interest Group, SigPrint.
I will preface this msg by stating that I am not a printing expert.
There are several contributors to the list whom I consider to be experts and I will defer to their expertise at a moments notice.

That said let's get to the point. I have been following the threads on problems with page level recovery on LPQ and new LaserJet printers when they are set up as spooled devices.
I also am aware, from personal experience in setting up and OTC6500 printer, that MPE does not support all the commands in the current version of PJL.
The best anaolgy I have heard is that MPE understands PCL 3, and the new printes are sending PCL 5 commands.

Now I need your help with some answers and input:
- are the PJL and page level recovery issues one and the same?
- can you give me detailed descriptions of your problems?

I would like to compile everything into a single document.
The document will consist of a request to enhance MPE to deal with these
problems and an addendum containing your detailed descriptions.
I will then ask both SigPrint and SigMPE to endorse the request.
I will then present the request at the MPE Roundtable at HPWorld.
I will also ask that it be included on the system improvement ballot.

Hey folks, this is what a user group is about! We can make things better
if we work together!

Please respond to me directly rather than on list. I will create a draft and
'bounce' it off some friends. I will then put the 'almost final' draft on the
list for comments and polish the final draft for presentation.

thx for your help and the help we can give the entire 3000 community.
