... and it's me !!!

Hello, HP3000-L people !

I am leaving my current assignment as an HP3000/MPE Systems Engineer as of
today, July 3, 1998. Though I technically remain employed by the same
company, my next assignment will be (as far as I know ... I so far have
very, very few details about it) to look after a bunch of HP9000s. You
know, a family to support, a mortgage to pay... This has a number of
consequences :

- The e-mail address I am writing this message from
([log in to unmask]) will be effectively shutdown today, July
3, 1998, at 4:00 PM Greenwich time, 6:00 PM CET Daylights.
- I will unsubscribe from HP3000-L at that time.
- I will last check this e-mail address at that time.
- I will (I hope it is very temporary) disappear from the Worlwide HP3000
Community.
- I am looking for a job in the HP3000 Community. My up-to-date resume (MS
Word format) is available upon request.

My only requirement, so far, is that I am based in France, for family
reasons (the only English words my wife and kids know are Coca-Cola,
Disney, McDonald's and, to some extent, Hewlett-Packard). I would welcome
some travel. My passport is already valid till 2004, and I have brushed up
my English. So if we can do something Paris-based, let's talk ! After all,
between my current employer of nine months, with whom I have no particular
links but the employment contract, and the HP3000, which has been a major
part of my professional life, and has brought me, if not fortune, at least
a good deal of credibility, which one do you think I am going to choose ?
My firmest belief is that the HP3000 is going to be there for a long time
(I 100 % support what you wrote in your post, Duane, btw), and I want to be
there too.

In case it's not clear from above, let me say that I wish to remain in
contact with the Worldwide HP3000 Community. My private e-mail address is
[log in to unmask], and it is not impacted by my change of assignment. My
portable phone number is 33-6-08-99-76-78 and is not impacted either. I
will probably subscribe HP3000-L again in a few days from my home address.
Who knows what the future is ... In the meantime, I wish you the following
:

- To my Canadian friends, a good Canada Day (I know, it comes 2 days too
late, sorry about this)
- To my U.S. friends, a good Independence Day,
- To my French friends, a good Bastille Day (comes on the 14th ... That's
pretty soon !)
- and to all of you, continuous success in your activities.

I strongly hope my vanishing from the HP3000 Community is very, very
temporary. I want to surface there again as soon as humanly possible.

OK, it was a long message just to basically say goodbye. But I felt I had
to do it. Sorry for the waste of bandwidth, however.

God bless you all and your loved ones,

Christian "so sorry to leave things uncompleted" Lheureux

What happened July 3 :

July 3, 1971 : Jim Morrisson dies in Paris, France :-(
July 3, 1998 : Christian Lheureux leaves his assignment as an MPE Systems
Engineer :-(((((
