We have a 918LX and have had no problems with our UPS. However, FWIW, I
can relate a problem we had with the BEST FERRUPS which powers our DEC
systems. We had just connected a diesel generator to provide power to the
computer center during some major electrical work on campus. Immediately,
the FERRUPS began turning on and off. Turns out that the cycle tolerance
had to be increased to handle the greater fluctuation in frequency put
out by the generator.
Hence, I would suspect a similar cause in your case, caused by either
voltage or cycle variance. The power supply in the 48 probably handles
these fluctuations itself, ah, but the 918 has a UPS to that.
HTH.
