Hello Cecile!

   I think what your looking for is FCONTROL 12 (echo off) & FCONTROL 13 (echo
on).  You can pass the file number of $STDIN if you can get it, or just fopen
open $STDIN again & do the FCONTROL's on that file. It will affect all files
opened as $STDIN.

Can anyone tell me the escape sequence I need to hide the password
when it's entered by a user in a character-mode program?
I don't have the appropriate manuals available today.
Although I've done this many times, my mind is blank on this subject.
