i've got the same problem on my a- and n-class boxes.  the modems *don't* work more than they do....

probably nothing.  if you're dealing with newer hardware (a-/n-boxes), do check the configuration for the modem port on the gsp.  out of the factory, the
boxes are configured like unix systems and need some tweaking.

if the modem isn't responding, try resetting the modem (gsp> mr) and the gsp itself (gsp> xd).  that *might* work.  we have found that powering the box
works, but that's a bit drastic....don't you think?

i'd sure love to hear from hp that a fix is in the works <hrump>             - d
