Changing TCP/IP on HP3000

I have been trying to change the IP address of our HP 3000 and have been
unable to finalize the new address.  I can get to the location using NMMGR,
but upon changing the IP, it adds extra letters and numbers.  It was set at
206.98.127.246 and I would like to set it to 12.26.244.50.  After I set the
12.26.244.50 number in the location, and save data the line then reads A 012
026.244.50 and I am unable to log into to it or ping it after restarting.
