FYI:

It was reported in our local newspaper some gee wiz facts about the growth
of Internet domain names.

It said the Internet connection rates were:
-------------------------------------------
Most of 1993 - 400 new sites per month.
By Oct 1994 - 2,000 new sites per month.
By end 1995 - 20,000 new sites per month.

The current total is more than 110,000 domain names in the registry. By
domain name I believe it's the part after the "@" in an address, so that

  "nd.edu"

counts as one entry in the registry. (?) Wow. The Internet should be
hitting ten's of millions of end point machines by now.

If Interex was any indication of rising Internet and WWW Interest, David
Greer had to turn away hundreds of people on his "Internet, WWW and the
3000" presentation. Most other Internet related meetings were well attended
given the "prime" time slots of last day Friday mid-morning when people were
leaving.
