Control-X and 5.0 shell

Just noticed something weird, or rather confirmed it happens more than
occasionally...
 
After some time in the shell, I get back to MPE and control-X no longer
does the "!!!<cr><lf>" echo.  It does take the ctl-x, and does clear the
line buffer, but the cursor stays put.  I'm not sure if this is the shell
in general or if man/vi/curses is at fault.
 
Also, I'm on 5.0 Pull.  If someone could confirm this on 5.0 Push then
it may be worthy of an SR, but I don't feel like bothering for the Pull.
