Ron postulates,

This is exactly the message that was being delivered, but for most users,
nothing can be further from the truth. I will not get into the OS wars, but
each OS has their plusses and minuses. Wintel bashing seems to be popular
now that Microsoft is in Washington DC, defending their hides.

Absolutely... I can't agree more. I know of people who are not in this
business, who within an hour, could navigate their Windows 95 (and 98) PC
they just brought home from Best Buy, OfficeMax, Sears, wherever.

Wintel has it's difficulties (the ones listed though, were not difficult,
they were put into place to cut support calls and protect the user), MacOS
has difficulties (hey, it tool me a bit to learn what I could about my G3...
it just wasn't as intuitive as what I was used to. Does that make it bad?
Absolutely not!

I'm not going to address Ron's post point by point, because it is a
thoughtful and factual piece... and I agree with most of it. I just want to
stress one more thing from my first post, repeated in Ron's post...

EDITING \MSDOS.SYS IS NOT RECOMMENDED, SUPPORTED, OR IN ANY WAY SUGGESTED,
MANDATED, ETC. If you do it, you do so at your own risk.

Best Regards,
Joe
