Quest Software can mirror files of one system to many other systems.  No
only can you do this with databases, files, and programs.  NBSpool will do
the same for spoolfiles.  We have them here and they are great.

You should be able to shadow databases from a 7.0 system to a 6.5 system
without issues.  As I recall, no features were added to TurboImage or the
file system in 7.0 that would cause any incompatibility.  If I'm mistaken
about that, then you should be okay as long as you avoid using any
7.0-unique features.  Yes, you can shadow to multiple machines.

I'm a new sys admin.

I started this job in July, just before the new N-Class came to replace the
987 as a development/production shadow machine, and we upgraded the
production 969 to 7.0.

Now we've got this perfectly good 987 on our hands, and my boss is wondering
if we can move it to our out-of-state site and use it for disaster recovery.
But we would need to upgrade it to 7.0 in order to shadow (Shareplex) our
production machine to it. (right?)

And can we shadow to two different machines in the first place?  We would
need to continue shadowing production to the N-Class to use in the
development mode.

Maybe I'm asking the wrong questions, I'd be interested in any discussion
related to this issue any of you folks would care to offer.
