You don't mention the nature of the "hangs" (that is, exactly what happens
when the session hangs), but here is the situation we had and our remedy:

We had certain PC's that would "hang" (and by that I mean, the terminal
emulator would just lock up and become non-responsive). We determined that
the cause was that the PC's NIC was a newer one and was attempting to run
100 Mbs whilst all the others were 10 Mbs. Setting the NIC to run only at
10 Mbs fixed this particular problem.

We also had other PC's that would automatically log the user off at various
intervals. This problem was traced to power-saving shutdowns of the various
PC components (including the NIC). Disabling the power-saving function (in
CMOS) fixed this problem.

Your situation may or may not be similar.
