Hi there - first of all a BIG disclaimer - my level of technical "comfort"
with this topic is virtually nil. Which having said, here goes!

I have a situation where an application written in a well-known 4th GL (from
somewhere East of Toronto) is attempting to access data stored on both an
HP3K and an HP9K. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that the "supported"
method of communication between Allbase databases on these two boxes was
going to change from NS to ARPA, with some release of either or both OS.

Needless to say, the presenting symptom is that the app doesn't work, and
can't even be compiled completely. All parties involved are readying their
index digits to identify the alleged source of the problem, and I thought
that I'd consult this list first!

Can anyone help me understand the issues in sharing data between HP-UX and
MPE in this way? Probably an off-list reply would be best (and I'll
summarize for the terminally masochistic!)

TIA
Tony
