In response to a couple of queries (that I also responded to
privately), I have verified (via COBOL DISPLAY's) that the
lock value is the same value as the item in the data buffer -
that is, the lock is <item> = <value> and the <item> in the
data buffer does indeed have <value> as its value. The data
item is an X-type item and occurs at the beginning of the
data buffer, so it's easy to verify.
Also, this is a DETAIL set (I think I mentioned that in the
original post) so I don't need a set-level lock, do I?
