As semi-promised earlier today, I have added more
text and discussion for the 9 SIGImage/SQL items
that made it on the Interex 2002 SIB; which can
of course be found at:
http://www.interex.org/advocacy/survey/sib2002.html

One more time: Vote NO LATER THAN SUN 24 March 2002.

The details are posted to the bulletin board that
is "behind" both the read-only and "real-vote"
versions of the ballot. Just click "Details" for
each item... :-)

Note you can get to the "next higher level" of
the bulletin-board view of all SIG items by going
direct to (BIG-time wrap):
http://www.interex.org/cgi-bin/yabb1/YaBB.pl?board=mpesib2002&action=message
index&start=0

or; alternatively: Just go one-level up in the
"tree view" at the top of each "Detail" item.

SIDEBAR: While this bulletin-board system is
considerably more complex than the old Interex
"HPW Roundtable pre-submission" system, it has
several nice features: One is a global view of
how many people have looked at each item (see
last above URL). Another (for those claiming
responsibility for each item) is that we can
set it to get email notification when someone
replies to a specific item. A small downside:
No easy way that I can see to get BACK to the
ballot once you go into the bulletin board
system; other than hit "Back" on your browser;
or going back to click on the original URL again.
... which I guess is not a big deal...

Encouraging (IMO) Sidebar to SIDEBAR: Item # 1:
"Identify a way for users and developers to
continue to run MPE in some supported fashion
after end of HP sales and support, and ask CSY
to facilitate that outcome" is an easy run-away
winner in the "view count" so far.

BB operational sidebars:

(1) It's fairly easy to miss that there is a
"page 2" to the top-level bulletin-board view
of all SIB items.

(2) The order of the SIB items in the "top level"
bulletin board view appears to always be sorted
in "last replied to" order... So list order will
likely be different every time you look at it.

BB "sneaky Sidebar":

Turns out you do NOT actually have to register
and / or log in to the Interex BB system to post
a reply to any SIB item; although doing so saves
having to enter your name and email address every
time if you want to post a reply. But if all you
want to do is READ what's there, doesn't look like
you gain anything by going through the registration
effort.
