Hopefully, many of you are digesting the ballot issues before voting since
only 82 people had voted on at least one ballot as of 9:00 PM EST Sunday
night. You have less than 5 days left!

As a SIG leader, I was certainly hoping we would receive, minimally, several
hundred ballots. This would help justify all the hard work that went into
creating the ballots in the less then two weeks time from the end of SIG3000
to the start of voting. We worked hard to make the preparation of the final
SIB as inclusive as possible through the public SIG ballots. 82 votes is
well under 10% of all subscribers to HP3000-L. When you add in all the
people who see this traffic via the newsgroup, we probably have a response
so far of under 5% of all people who know about the voting.

More important than the SIG leader's feelings, however, is the need to show
CSY that customers care enough about user-initiated enhancements to take the
half hour to study the issues and vote. Remember, as others have already
said, CSY has for the first time committed resources to working on projects
identified through the SIB process. If we cannot generate significant
interest in these initiatives, why should CSY commit anything in the future?

Go to http://oblina.csillc.com/sigs or http://207.103.9.100/sigs
print out a copy of each ballot, spend a half hour or so studying the items
and then vote! Do not let this opportunity to make a difference pass without
being heard.
Speaking only for myself,
John Burke
