Simply put, MPEX "listf format files" are not "command files" -- they are only valid in the context:

   %LISTF <some_fileset>(<some_qualifiers>),^YOURMODE[.GROUP[.ACCOUNT]]

Furthermore they should be saved as unnumbered text files.  MPEX will create a similarly-named file ending with the digit "8" [overwriting the last character of the filename sometimes...] that contains a "semi-compiled" version of your listf-expression (filecode 176, I think...)
