Stan,
Chuck was having problems with the local segment (too
much traffic).  the dos box's were rebooting and were
at the server login prompts.  I picked up the user id
and password from Chuck and every hour or so logged
in any systems at the login prompt.  This appeared to
not be a problem on Thurs. and i did not get a chance
to ask Chuck why all was well on Thur.
 
So.... The problem was not PC's, DOS, nor Windows :>)
