You might ask on the https://groups.io/g/VintHPcom list as there are lots of people who collect the old 200/300 systems.

I believe there's an HPDISK emulator that runs on a PC with an HP-IB interface card and emulates the old disk devices, so you then plug that into your 200/300 box.

There are emulators for those systems but presumably they're using them because of some hardware interface? Otherwise you could just completely virtualize them I think.

Subject: [HP3000-L] [EXT]: HPIB disk

External Email

 Hi all-

Does anyone still use HPIB disk? I have one company whom I still work with who has some old series 200 and 300 workstations that have only an HPIB interface. We found a solution that was manufactured overseas for many years, but they stopped making them. We've managed to work around RGB monitors and found a converter for that. But now I'm out of ideas for converting disk from HPIB to something else. Is anyone still using HPIB? What are you doing for storage?

Thanks and hope all is well with everyone.

Sincerely,

John Lee
