I agree. I was not assuming this statement. I was fishing for a "starter"
kit to introduce Posix commands to MPE programmers, something to get the
ball rolling.
Similar, there are MPE programmers of over 10 years vintage (myself
included) that know what to expect from MPE like a WWII pilot knows how to
fly a DC-3 (history buff, I'm not that old!). So, a bridge can be built on
something familiar, even though it can be dangerous if examples are
extrapolated without proper knowledge (I tried to copy all the files from a
directory to another directory using a recursive (-R) loop - had ten copies
of the dang directories pointing to itself before I stopped it. This wasn't
the MPE Posix shell, but a similar Unix system.
LESSON - don't experiment with Unix commands (especially recursive ones!),
they can wipe you out but good. Oh, yes, now I have ten directory copies of
files I don't want. . .mmmm, now lets delete recursive... Oh well, didn't
want those anyway :-( Unix generally doesn't protect you from stupid
mistakes (or your lack of understanding of options.)
