The OT is a real topic, like all the others that appear at the top.
Nobody ever used the others, so you could call them an exercise in
futility. The "Other" represents all messages that did not include a
keyword topic.
When you turned off "Other", then yes, you probably killed most/all
posts. It should stay on.
Turning off "OT" will keep you from getting posts that are correctly
labelled as "OT".
