I did the same, but booked at the Palmer House Hilton for a full $56.00
less ($159.00 per night as compared to $215). I even asked the question
why the HP World rate was higher than the internet rate and was informed
that I would have to contact the Conference Organization Group (Interex
?) to see what "ammenities" are included in the conference rate. The
hotel operator indicated I would "miss out" on some special ameniites.
I think not.

Mark Bixby mentioned earlier that if you book through the hotel website,
you may be able to get a rate less than that published in the HPWorld
brochure. This is true - I got a rate at the Chicago Hilton $16 less
than
the brochure rate through the Hilton's website. BTW, this website is a
textbook example of how *not* to design one - and it's r e a l l y
