Which MPEX command were you using on permanent files? In most cases the
fileset can be directed to temporary files with ":TEMP" as in:
%LISTF @:TEMP

Subject: [HP3000-L] Running Glance or SOS in "batch"
We are looking to determine the progress through a temporary file of a job
that is running. We are looking for a way of ascertaining the file pointer
in some "black box" method that we can put into a command file that the
operators can use. Both Glance and SOS show the file pointer of temporary
files, while MPEX can report only on permanent files.
What I would like to do is to find out the pin of interest, and use it to
get the pointer information. Can the commands to either Glance or SOS come
from an input file? or must they be entered on-line?
Is there some other approach to our problem?
Thanks.
