Recently, when I retracted my earlier obituary of OpenVMS, several Tech
Update readers wrote to express their enthusiasm and support for and -- in
some cases, their devotion to -- Compaq's venerable operating system. Reader
Gene Hirschel offered up a few good war stories as he recounted his 16 years
of VMS experience, predicting for it "a renaissance/revival that nary an
operating system has ever seen." I can't think of any other two-decades-old
OS to evoke that level of passion. Can you?
