Greetings,

This is the first I've heard that Dynamic Data Set Expansion for master
data sets (MDX) doesn't work.

Can others confirm or refute?

(Maybe it's only a problem when the maximum capacity would cause the
data set to exceed 4GB in size?)

In any event, that's not the problem I'm having.

The only time I have seen the error message:

"MPE FILE ERROR 0 RETURNED BY FREADDIR ON ROOT FILE"

is when I had dynamic expansion turned on Master datasets (MDX)

Do not use it (MDX) -- it is buggy and causes this problem every time.

(None of the >master data sets is enabled for dynamic expansion.) --
better
check that again.

Brian.
