Perhaps you're not aware of our Hillary's exploits. I seriously doubt any other politician could do what she did and stay out of jail.

As Secretary of State for the USA (sort of like the chief diplomat of the country,) she set up her own email server at her house in New York and used that server exclusively for all her email traffic during her tenure as Secretary of State. She did not even have a formal government email account. She also let many of her friends and co-workers use that email server for their email needs. After she finished her stint as Secretary of State, she printed, yes printed, the emails (about 30,000) that she judged to not be of a personal nature and then wiped the server clean even though it was going to be subpoenaed. In a twist of irony, during her tenure as Secretary of State, she fired one ambassador who used his personal email for government business more than he was supposed to do.

At any rate, that's neither here nor there. I would think that degaussing the disk drives or simply taking the disk drives out and destroying them separately would be the most secure method, if you have any concerns with anyone ever being able to read from these disks.

Seems a shame to destroy good hardware, though.

Denys

I could think of many politicians who could do the same...

Or send the server to Hillary; she's really good at wiping them clean. :-)
