Sorry I can't help you with your real problem, but just a point of
clarification:  The "off-line" status you see in the above messages is
furnished by the DTC, and has no discernible relation to the printer's
on-line or off-line status.  The DTC will report off-line for anything
it does not like, such as an incorrect parity or baud rate setting.  It
is incapable of any further granularity of problem reporting; at least
we here in spooler-land do not know of any.
