Oracle trading volume sets Nasdaq record

NEW YORK, Dec 9 - Oracle Corp on Tuesday set a one-day record for
shares traded on the Nasdaq Stock Market, a Nasdaq official said.

In late afternoon trading more than 163 million Oracle shares had changed
hands. That is about 20 percent of all Nasdaq shares traded so far in the
day.

Oracle late Monday reported second-quarter results that fell below
analysts' estimates.

Previously, the most heavily-traded stock was now-delisted Comparator,
which on May 6, 1996 logged volume of about 152 million shares, the
official said.
