You might be able to use the AT scheduling command in NT.  We do this same
type of thing, but not with Word.  We do the following...
-On the HP build several files
-On the HP FTP them to the NT server
-On the HP FTP a control file when all of the other FTP's are successful
-On the NT server using the AT command run a (DOS) batch file every 15
minutes looking for that control file
--If the control file does not exist, don't do anything
--If the control file does exists, purge the control file then do our
processing
