Unfortunately, unless you can set up Domain Name Services somewhere (for
example, on your HP9000) and configure your DTC's to point to that location,
you're stuck with using IP addresses to connect to the HP9000 (and node
names to connect to the HP3000).
 
Alternatively, with DTCMGR, you can set up your function key labels to allow
your users to easily choose which machines to connect to without requiring
them to know neither IP addresses nor node names. I believe this will work
only if you are using HP terminal emulation. At least I haven't figured out
the appropriate escape sequences necessary if using VTxxx emulation - even
assuming it's possible. (Maybe someone else can help here).
 
If you want more information on how to set up your function key lables to
accomplish your objectives, let me know.
