Having recently installed sendmail on one of our 3000 systems,
I thought it might be useful to also access those server based
inboxes from a PC or workstation via POP clients like Eudora,
Pegasus or Netscape (to name just a few).

With sendmail 8.12.x being "on the way" (in beta on Jazz), it
seemed to me that a reasonably current version of Qualcomm's
Qpopper would be useful in this regard. (I believe the version
at ftp.nha.co.za is somewhat older than 4.0.3 ;-) and so I gave
it a quick (porting) try.

You can find source code (diffs) and/or binaries at
  http://www.editcorp.com/Personal/Lars_Appel/index.html -> Qpopper
if you're interested to experiment with the software.

However, notice that it is not "hp supported", and that it
is a rather fresh port, so should be considered alpha or beta
or somesuch. Please report any issues you might find. On my
machine it seems to work reasonably well at present.

Cheerio, Lars.
