You can have it normal. Most firewalls have options for customizing the
network traffic. Given the IP address of the HP outside and the port to
which the DSLINE connects. Just allow that IP and Port combo through the
firewall, and DSLINE should work fine.
Now if you are talking about encrypting and proxies and that sort you may
have more problems than given above.

What are the chances of having one HP3000 within a company
firewall and another HP3000 outside the firewall and yet being able to
DSLINE from one to the other ?

If DSLINE doesn't in general get through a firewall, are there any other
options for RFA and RDBA ?

It's probably obvious that my knowledge of networks is pretty minimal so
write any answers slowly please :) and I'll pass them on to more
qualified colleagues ...
