     Hi Denys,

the last time I was on the Win95 list (it has been quite a while), it
was more trouble than it was worth (too many flame wars, etc). Is it
better about that kind of thing now?

     thanks,
     Bob

Nick's machine is antediluvian. He has a small disc and not much memory.

Actually for problems such as yours there is a good list to help you. Send
your subscribe message to:
[log in to unmask]

Subscribe to win95-l Your name

Or for NT, same address and subscribe to WinNT-l

Then jump back, there are a few hundred messages a day on each list!
Subjects range from the RTFM questions to the fairly esoteric stuff. Lots
of whinnying about Mickey$oft goes on in there. Most of the questions are,
"How do I ...?" Or "this just happened. . .what do I do?"

No need to trouble this list with your PC issues.

Kind regards,

Denys. . .

<severe off-topic WARNING !!>

Nick is on to something. :-)

Actually, I thought Win95 was extremely stable until I turned on my PC at
home a couple of days ago, had immediate problems printing
to LPT1 and had no sound card function I eventually discovered that the
LPT1 port was not being reported by the Win95 System/Device Manager and
the sound card was flagged as non-functional. I recovered the sound card,
but I'm still trying to find out how to recover LPT1 (I can print from DOS
with no problem). Microbloat wants $$$ to give me assistance. I said, 'No
thanks'.

A <<All that rhetoric sniped>>

Windows'95 is NOT stable. If you want to compare it to MPE,
compare it to MPE 1 (went down every hour).
