I note the site is back up.
I come to the conclusion that the web site was probably affected by the
Duke University bug from Friday. Even though the bug lasted a half
hour, ripple effects could have lasted far longer, depending on ISP
response. (I think they would have had to patch their routers at
least.)

The symptoms were more consistent with routers not working (blank
screen.) If anything just happened only to the web site, there would
have at least been a hosting response telling us the server could not be
found (404 error). But this appears like the host internal routing was
messed up.
To use a Sherlock Holmes maxim, I don't think it is within OpenMPE's
awesome powers to take our own site down like that. So whatever else
remains, must be the truth.

When trying to access the OpenMPE web site www.openmpe.org, all I get is
a blank screen without any error messages. They must have a problem with
their host.
