This has been the case on the h/w side for many years.
In the SF Bay Area you can usually find your ex-HP CE
working at your favorite 3rd party h/w support vendor.

For example: back in 1990 we had a 925 on 3rd party
h/w support and our CE was the *same* hp-ce we had in 1989.
