I vote for day-long seminars on Monday before. Seminars on that day should
be DAY-long or pairs of morning-afternoon seminars that people can choose.
I chose the morning SQL tutorial (it was very good), but then I had an
afternoon to kill (with no vendor show!)
Some further thought needs to be given to the scheduling of SIGs against
seminars. I missed SIGCOBOL because of conflicting seminar. Lunch time and
the 5:00 slot are better even though it makes for a long day. An
alternative might be 8:00 with breakfast and then have sessions start at
9:00 am.
Certain long-time HP3000 vendors were conspicuously absent or had only a
minimal presence. Disappointing. Cognos, Unison, Vesoft, Software
Research.
