No experience of that make/model, but -
We have a HP dat 40x6 autoloader (8 tape magazine), and its configured like this in sysgen:-
LDEV: 777 DEVNAME: OUTDEV: 0 MODE: R
ID: DDSAUTO RSIZE: 128 DEVTYPE: TAPE
PATH: 0/0/1/0.5.0 MPETYPE: 24 MPESUBTYPE: 7
CLASS: TAPE
AND we do this in sysstart:-
devctrl 777,enable,enable
The parms available are compress, eject, and load - we have not specified load in the above - check help devctrl for options.
It always loads next tape on end of a backup, EVEN though SHOWDEV does not show a tape at ready - maybe because we are not setting Load to online? Its showing two leds (ready) now after last nights backup , but showdev gives AVAIL.
If a tape gives an error I think it moves on to the next one. In this mode (eject=enable), I cant get my programmatic bring on line to work.
We also have a dds 3 single drive on the traditional ldev 7. We set this to Eject= disable, as this allows for doing a store, and programmatically putting the tape back on line remotely - avoids having to be on site to do backup & restore.

Trying the DEVCTRL.MPEXL.TELESUP command with varying parameter
values has not been fruitful. (Specifically, DEVCTRL.MPEXL.TELESUP 8
EJECT=ENABLE LOAD=ONLINE)
Also, looking at the dip switches available do not appear to offer
any obvious solutions there (I don't see a switch associated with the
stacker or random mode operation).
Does anyone have any experience with this model of autoloader or any
suggestions as to how I can configure it so I can issue a command to
load the next tape in the magazine ?
