This would normally work if the passwords were embedded in the jobs. Our
site uses SECURITY/3000 with passwordless jobs and does not recognize the
FTP logged on user as a valid user. There ought to be a parameter in
SECURCON that would allow this process to stream a job.
Thanks for the info, I'll check with VESOFT.

The site command is used for just this purpose of issuing a command to the
remote system.
You also need to tell the client that you want to just send the command.
The command it quote
Her is an example of streaming a job
quote site stream mkmelfrm.job
I put this in my ftp script file.

Phil, to answer question (1) here is the FTP syntax to specify your HP file
characteristics:
ftp> get marsb11.txt XCTTRNS;rec=-190,,f,ascii;disc=100000
I'm curious if the site command is even an option from the NT. I don't see
it on NT4.0. I believe this is an HP-enhanced command that is available
between HP's.
Hope this helps.

Subject: [HP3000-L] FTP with MPE/ix
Hi folks,
Leaving out the long story about why I'm not initiating this from the HP,
here's my situation. I'm using a Perl script to FTP and pick up a file,
fondle it, and drop it off on the HP3000. I have two small problems:
(1) How do I drop it off with a record size of 320? It's knocking it to 80.
(and for the Perlnuts, is this not possible with the std Net::FTP?)
(2) Is there a way to configure FTP on the HP to allow the "SITE" command (I
believe that's what it's called) so I can kick off a job stream via FTP?
Thanks,
Phil Metzger
