Several options have been posted after Kirby first asked the
subject question.  I'll add one more:  QUERYCALC, from
AICS Research.  Besides doing fast and efficient data
retrieval, it can produce reports pretty much as plain and
simple or complex and fancy as you want to make them,
including color Postscript graphics;  all done completely
on the 3000.
