No 'site' command in standard MS ftp :-(

ftp> help
Commands may be abbreviated. Commands are:

! delete literal prompt send
? debug ls put status
append dir mdelete pwd trace
ascii disconnect mdir quit type
bell get mget quote user
binary glob mkdir recv verbose
bye hash mls remotehelp
cd help mput rename
close lcd open rmdir

I've explored this issue before. You could use a more powerful ftp
program, but that implies co-operation by the PC admin. Of course, if
the PC is yours, on your site, no problem.

But if it is remote and out of your control, no luck....

>PS: we do have a program now that seats in the background and

>but it is taking too much cpu time...

You are using the PAUSE intrinsic to send it to sleep in between looks,
aren't you, rather than sending it 20,000 times round a loop, or
whatever?

If you use PAUSE, even with just a one-second interval, it could take
next to no CPU time while it runs.
